Peace Innovation Network Member Profile - Federico Hewson (He/Him)

Federico’s Path

Federico is a trained musician and singer, who sang with the San Francisco Opera as a child. Throughout his 20s, he wrote and acted in plays, while also studying dance, performance art, and social practice art. He acquired a Masters at New York University in art activism. After organizing a festival on sexuality and another festival on spirituality, he decided to get more involved with peace. Federico organized a peace project for Valentine’s Day, exchanging poems and flowers around the world. The Dutch flower industry partnered with him for his Valentine Peace Project. Currently, he is working on an illustrated book on the politics of flowers including how they are traded, their symbolism, and what role they play for social movements, activists, and artists. As a writer, teacher, art agent and curator he is actively learning new interpretations of artmaking.

Why PIN Bootcamp?

As someone coming from an artistic background, Federico was motivated to join PIN Bootcamp to learn the language, tools, and strategies of business. He also wanted to get involved with others who are active in peace work and have similar goals and values. He is looking to expand the language of flowers from his writing and activism for a business that allows art and horticulture to support him and the rest of the world.

Federico’s Aspirations

Federico aspires to be successfully self-employed in a manner that allows him to be creative and make a difference.
